  • More control over your Widget embeds: View, download, and delete existing Widget embeds.
  • First time customer reporting: The Bookings report now has a column that shows you if it is the customer’s first time booking with you. This information can help your instructors make their first class special and help you nurture these new customers into lifelong fans. Plus, gain valuable insights into seasonality, which classes attract new customers, and more.

  • Widget calendar updates: We redesigned activity cards and user experience in the Widget calendar for better usability and conversion. It now…
    • Displays your full activity name, age range, location name, and time range
    • Defaults to month with the next upcoming scheduled activity

  • All Activities Widget tab: Now you can show your semesters, camps/events, drop-ins, and online classes in one tab with All Activities. Customers can see all of your offerings in one view, decreasing the time it takes to find the perfect activity and make a booking.

  • Fixed an issue where some refunded order numbers were blank in payout reports
  • Updated Zapier integration to prevent having to re-authorize an account
  • Resolved a bug that prevented users from transferring participants by week
  • Fixed inconsistent editing capabilities with multi day activities 
  • Resolved a display discrepancy with packs that occurred when removing a customer from roster
  • Updated syncing behavior of child profile fields so that they sync immediately to the provider

Product Updates - July 2024

🆕 New Features:

  • E-Signature Agreements: Create, manage, and track e-signatures for waivers, releases, and other agreements – integrated right in the checkout process for parents.
  • Activity Auto-Reminders update: You can now choose timing for your customers to receive Activity Auto-Reminders. When enabled for “before every activity instance”, the email will be sent out 24 hours before the activity start time. When enabled for “weekly reminder”, the email will be sent out on Monday at midnight ET.
  • New Zaps (Updated Booking and New Orders V2): For Legacy and Scale Tier providers, these new Zaps allow you to automate workflows and marketing communications when a booking is updated or a new order is created.

🐛 Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed an issue where required fees would not apply in rare cases
  • Resolved a bug where instructors were unable to add participants to the roster using Add Participant
  • Updated the widget calendar on mobile to display the correct timezone for any US time zone
  • Improved calculations for remaining balances due on orders to account for custom payment method payments
  • Improved rosters so that when you condense the roster and scroll, the newly loaded names also display as condensed
  • Resolved an issue for Annual Statements where January payments were not being included

🆕 New Features:

🐛 Bug Fixes:

  • Resolved a widget issue that caused users to have to scroll down to view activity photos, often causing photos to be missed.
  • Holidays can no longer be added on dates that have existing bookings.
  • Mitigated timeout issues related to adding appointments to cart, which resulted in appointments failing to be added to carts.
  • Resolved an issue causing "1 spot left" language to appear on activities on the widget when that functionality was toggled off.

🆕 New Features:

  • Email Authentication: Increase online activity security with Email Authentication. This new optional safety setting requires email verification for customers. Only customers who verify their email will gain access to your online classes.
  • Activity Auto-Reminders: We made it easier for you to notify families of upcoming activities. With Activity Auto-Reminders your customers can be notified 24 hours ahead of their scheduled program, so they never miss an upcoming activity.

🐛 Bug Fixes:

  • Resolved an issue in which the widget was not appearing on providers' websites, preventing customers from signing up for classes.

Product Updates - April 2024

🆕 New Features:

  • Adult Registration: We built a more seamless booking experience for child and adult programs. Now you can more easily register adults and their friends for adult-only classes, events, semesters, camps, and memberships.
  • Waitlists: We’ve made it easier to fill open roster spots from waitlists faster and increase conversions of waitlisted students. Now you can easily move participants from waitlists to rosters, send registration links to waitlisted participants, and get notifications when spots become available. 
  • End of Year Summary: Access and download annual statements, listing transactions and orders, as well as the total of all transactions made that year. These reports are most commonly used for tax filing and reimbursements. 
  • Rosters v2.1: Rosters v2.1 was an iterative followup to Rosters v2, which focused on bug fixes and improvements to printed/downloaded rosters. The Print Roster option now allows providers to select between a PDF or a CSV roster, which allows for further reporting customization prior to printing.

🐛 Bug Fixes:

  • Resolved an issue that resulted in form field responses displaying inconsistently on rosters.
  • Fixed a bug that did not require a payment method at checkout for monthly billing orders when the first installment was $0 (due to a coupon/discount).
  • Resolved a bug causing some reports to not be delivered to user emails.

🆕 New Features:

  • Released a closed beta version of an SMS integration.
  • Added an email to be sent when provider banking information is updated.
  • Added the ability for parents to contact providers directly from their order history and order emails as well as from the main Sawyer contact page
  • We’ve created an automatic abandoned cart email sent to customers with unpurchased items between 1 and 2 days old.

🐛 Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed an issue that caused the “no available spots” message to incorrectly show when trying to add a booking to the cart. 
  • Fixed form field responses that were not displaying correctly in a member's profile.
  • Fixed a rosters settings bug where form fields were not showing on the roster for associated activities until settings were resaved.
  • Fixed a bug where adult students are not listed at the bottom of the Activity Summary page for activities that allow adults and children.
  • Fixed an error where payment plan payments attempted to charge deleted members.
  • Multiple database performance upgrades were made.
  • Fixed an issue where the cart timer will no longer be reset if a member’s payment fails.
  • Made improvements to transactional emails sent to customers.
  • Fixed an issue with rosters to no longer produce an error if a member on the roster was deleted.
  • Fixed a bug where the left navigation in the member accounts pages was not displaying correctly on a tablet.

Product Updates - May 2023

🆕 New Features:

  • Launched a navigation improvement test for the Marketplace.
  • Added subtitle text to carousels on the Marketplace.
  • Added light HTML tag support to field options in Form Fields. Users can use (p, em, b, strong, i) tags in the field options.
  • Added option for semester overrides to allow the scheduled activity to run for longer than 53 weeks.
  • Launched Beta Rosters 2.0. There is now a new toggle switch so providers can toggle on and off the Beta Rosters 2.0 in their settings.

🐛 Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed an issue where some activities with multiple photos showed the wrong primary photo on widgets, Marketplace, and in the portal.
  • Added error message language when adding an activity to a Semester to indicate what information is missing
  • Fixed general sizing and spacing inconsistencies throughout the Sawyer portal
  • Added messaging in the case that a customer tries to register more attendees for a class than there are spots available, so they know they must remove attendees to register.
  • Fixed an issue in Beta Rosters 2.0 where a birthday would say “Invalid Date”.
  • Optimized rosters export to work for larger rosters.
  • Fixed a sibling discount issue where the discount applied to all children instead of any additional child in some circumstances.
  • The cart page will now display all the dates that the customer is booking.
  • Fixed an issue on the cart where it was displaying the wrong class time for free trial sign ups.
  • Improved Marketplace classes recommendation engine.
  • For Beta Rosters 2.0, we updated the filter used for the allergy label so that when customers enter variations of a child having no allergies, i.e. “No Allergies, NKA, Nope, etc.”, the allergy label will not display
  • Fixed a bug where clicking “Transfer Single Date” would reload the page instead of opening the correct modal in rosters.
  • Bug fixed so now we will show “Refund Pending” on ACH payments when a refund is initiated to inform the provider that a refund is being processed.
  • Fixed a bug where anonymous reviews showed the name blank instead of “Anonymous Customer.”
  • Improved loading for various pages in the portal
  • Fixed a bug where the calendar view on the mobile widget would display even if the provider didn’t have this enabled.
  • Fixed a bug with duplicating scheduled activities where the payment plan would be disabled by default. Payment plans will now only be disabled if the pricing is changed or the number of days on a multi-day class is changed.
  • Fixed a bug related to incorrect semester dates displaying in some order confirmation emails when activity instances have been edited.
  • Fixed a bug related to being unable to place orders that have a certain combination of cart-level coupons applied, payment plans, and add-ons.

  • Completed form fields will remain in a customer account even when corresponding orders are canceled.
  • Multiple internal bug fixes were made to support the stability of Sawyer.
  • We fixed an issue where failed membership payments were canceling membership perk spots. This has been updated so that membership auto-billing payment failures will not cancel activity spots.

  • Custom Booking Fee - This new feature lets providers create a customizable booking fee to charge customers either a percentage or a fixed amount at checkout. Learn More.
  • Sawyer Booking Fee - This new fee is charged directly to customers when they place a new online order. Learn More.
  • Beta Transactions Report - This new report is a more granular version of the orders report. Learn More.
  • Customer Success Chat - This new feature lets you chat with our customer support team in real time by clicking the help button from the Sawyer for Business portal or via the help center. Regular hours are M-F 9:30 am - 4:30 pm ET.

🐛 Bug Fix:

  • We fixed a bug preventing an error message from showing when providers attempted to save edits to a semester that already had bookings (which cannot be done.)

🆕 New Feature:

  • You can now pay for your Sawyer for Business subscription using ACH, instead of a credit card. If you’d like to switch to ACH, let our support team know by emailing support@hisawyer.com.

🐛 Bug Fix:

  • Adding holidays/closures on days where bookings existed was previously not displaying a warning or error message. This has been fixed so that schedules with bookings will not have issues with incorrect availability.

  • We built a new feature that lets you edit the capacity of a single instance (a day) of a scheduled activity right from the roster, without changing the capacity for any other days! Learn more

⬆ Feature Updates:

  • We added a pencil icon that lets you navigate directly to the Pricing or Add-ons pages of a scheduled activity (from the Semesters and Camps pages) without clicking through the previous pages.
  • We also added cancellations (when you cancel a booking) and rebookings (when you add a student back to the booked list from the cancelled tab on a roster) to the transfer audit history timeline. Learn More

⬆ Feature Updates:

  • We made it easier to view activity details! Add-ons like Extended Day are now displayed alongside other details like Pricing in the Schedules section of your Sawyer for Business portal. Now you can double-check that add-ons are set up correctly without clicking through the scheduled activity setup.

  • We also made it easier to create and edit Activities in Listings, by consolidating the setup flow onto one page. Now you can create or edit Activities without clicking through multiple pages!

🐛 Bug Fixes:

  • We fixed a bug that was preventing individual instances (i.e. class days) of activities scheduled with multiday from displaying correctly on the More Info page when they were rescheduled from the roster.

  • We also fixed a bug that wasn’t letting users navigate away from the activity scheduling flow by clicking on the Sawyer menu.

  • We added a new field to the scheduled activity setup flow that lets you set the Registration Visibility (Public/Private) during the scheduling process. With this update, you can now add new hidden scheduled activities to already published semester or camp/event schedule containers without having them appear publicly even for a second!
  • We also simplified the Location-creation flow so that it takes fewer clicks to create a new location or edit an existing one.

🆕 New Feature:

  • We added a feature that lets you see every student's transfer history. You can find a link to View Transfer History in the three-dots menu to the right of each booking under the Bookings tab of a student profile (within your Client List); you can also find a link to View Transfer History directly from any roster to which a student has been transferred. Learn more on our help center.

⬆ Feature Update:

  • We made the buttons you use to manage your scheduled activities easier to understand! To the right of each scheduled activity within a schedule container timeframe (on your Semesters and Camps/Events pages) click the new three-dots drop down to do things like Edit, Hide, and Get Customer Link.

🐛 Bug Fix:

  • We fixed a bug that was preventing users from adding new Instructors to Appointments before the Instructors had accepted their invitations.*

Improved widget loading times

There had been a few requests for this and we figured that just about all of the other functionality that we offer doesn't amount to much if your customers can't register easily so our team has worked for months to improve widget loading speed.

Whether you offer ten activities or 10,000, you (and your customers) should see some significant improvement.

Updates include:

  • Faster widget load times
  • Improved functionality across widget tabs

Widget design improvements

Our team has made a few subtle updates to the way customers see your activities on your widget(s).

Updates include:

  • Activities now fall into two sections: In Progress and Starting Soon.
  • Chronological sort that make it easier for parents to book in advance or book classes happening in the here and now.

Weekly Update — 5-10-2021

New Photo Uploader 

We’ve made improvements to our photo uploader to make it easier than ever to boost your business with beautiful images. You can find the photo uploader in two places: on your activities and in your settings, where you update your Business Profile! 

Updates include:

  • Upload photos from your desktop or mobile device. 
  • Create photo galleries to add more context to your offerings — the more photos, the better!
  • Use your social media or Google Drive to add photos to Sawyer 
  • Update imagery quickly with improved loading time and better performance

Activity Booking Updates 

Our team has made a few subtly stunning updates to the way customers see your activities on your widget(s) and on the Sawyer Marketplace.

Updates include:

  • Updated look and feel that puts your activities front and center (and encourages customers to book) 
  • Activity labels that share if a class is booking fast or if one or two spots are left 
  • Class status labels including full, waitlisted, or closed 
  • Additional times that a class is being taught 

Camps Widget Tab Improvements

If you offer events or camps, you’ll notice that your widget's camp tab is loading faster than ever! The changes below only apply to your camps tab — but be on the lookout for more updates soon.

Updates include:

  • Improved functionality and load time
  • Camps are sorted chronologically. If you have two or more activities that occur at the same date and time, they will be sorted alphabetically
  • Improved activity display, with two sections: Coming Soon and In Progress!

Trial Classes

We added trial classes to help you acquire new users and lifelong fans. With this release you can:

  • Offer free trials for Semester activities and Camps/Events at the activity level. 
  • Send automatic follow up emails to increase conversions
  • Track free trial conversions using the free trial report 
  • Set up our Zapier integration to funnel free trial data to over 2,000 apps 

Gift Card Image Uploader 

  • Use this feature to upload customer gift card images to your Tools provider portal.
